Gerbera Week @ Queensberry April 16 - 19

It's getting nicer outside and we feel that the flowers that best represent how we feel this time of the year - happy, vibrant and carefree - are GERBERA daisies!  

So we are celebrating Gerbera Week at Queensberry...  a week full of cheery gerbera daisies, and yes, we have potted gerberas for you to grow at home, too.

[Gerbera Facts]
An ornamental plant from the sunflower family (Asteraceae). Gerberas were named in honor of the German naturalist Traugott Gerber.  Gerbera is the fifth most important cut flower in the world (after roses, carnations, chrysanthemums and tulips).

Meaning of Gerbera daisies:  Innocence, Purity, Cheerfulness, a classic symbol of beauty

International Women's Day is on Friday March 8th!

Did you know that in many countries, International Women's Day is an official holiday?  And in these countries, it is customary for men and children to give women in their lives to give flowers and small gifts on this day?  

We serve many customers from different countries, so every year, we welcome people like a gentleman buying bouquets of spring flowers for his mom and sisters or a lady buying our Mini Berry Bouquets for her colleagues.  In some countries it is equivalent to Mother's Day, so it feels so festive with all the thoughtful gift givers coming to our shops.

Why not join the celebration and show your mom, wife, girlfriend, daughter, colleagues etc. how much you care!  We will be waiting for you with lots of spring flower bouquets!

Holiday Wreath Lesson is coming up!

【It's BACK!  Holiday Wreath-making lesson】(no experience needed:)　＄60（＋HST）

This year, come make your own wreath for your home or to give it to that special someone.  
Two different types of wreath making lessons are offered this year.
 
Rustic Wreath Lesson
Using all-natural ingredients such as natural cotton, pine cones, cinnamon sticks etc, to decorate the wreath made of local juniper, fir, cedar and pine.

Cute and cheerful wreath, Queensberry style!  Incorporate lovely ornaments, ribbon and snow flakes to create a fun and sweet holiday wreath just the way you like it.

Halloween is coming to Queensberry! and "The Nightmare before Christmas" inspired Pumpking Flower Arrangement Lessons

So what happens when a flower shop does Trick-or-Treating?

We will fill your goodie buckets with Florists' treats like pumpkin colored roses, berries, shiny black peppers and other eye candy. So here they are... Introducing Trick-or-Treat Flower Buckets.

These cute arrangements come in mini tin buckets and can be perfect as hostess gifts or treats for your halloween-loving friends. 

And don't forget our upcoming Flower Lessons at our Yaletown Design Studio!

[Halloween Pumpkin Arrangements] 
This spooky but cute arrangement inspired by "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is this season's fun floral project at Queensberry.  Carve the pumpkin (you can carve fun faces using our templates or carve floral pattern etc.) and arrange fresh flowers and berries.  Incorporate branches, berries and some shiny black peppers to create that nightmarish and distinctively Halloween feel.

Mini Bouquet Lesson: Thank you for coming to the lesson!

We had so much fun at Queensberry's Mini Bouquet Lesson last week!  Two kids joined us this time and there was a very happy, fun atmosphere at the shop.  Thank you all for coming out!

Wearing flowers is fun!  Due to popular demand, we are now offering flower accessory lessons.  We will teach you how to make a corsage using different methods of wiring.  You will learn how to wire and tape flowers that can be applied in many other accessory making techniques.

Mini Bouquet Lesson    (Beginner Level) $39 (+HST)
Learn the basics of spiral bouquet making.  You can apply the skills learned in this lesson to many different styles!  Every month, you will learn the names of the seasonal flowers and how to best incorporate them into your bouquet.  You will be making one mini bouquet and one medium size bouquet in this class.  Take this class before taking our intermediate level lessons.  *Gift wrapping is optional at an additional cost.

Inspired by Queensberry's popular "Flower Cube" arrangements, we will teach you the basics of vase arrangement.  Master the very basics of vase arrangement in this lesson and you will be able to arrange flowers in any containers you may have at home!

Presentation Bouquet Lesson  (Intermediate - Advance Level) $56 (+HST) 
Learn to make a tall and impressive presentation-style bouquet that utilizes the beautiful vertical line of tall flowers and branches. Learn from our expert instructors how to make the basic structure of the bouquet and let your creativity flow!  * You will need to first complete "Mini Bouquet Lesson" to attend this class if you are a beginner.

Rose Bouquet Lesson   (Intermediate) $59 (+HST)
Roses are the Queen of flowers.  Using the spiral technique of bouquet making, make a luxurious rose bouque using the rose of the month.  Mix roses with unique greenery and other small flowers to create a modern style rose bouquet perfect for your home or as a gift.  You will also learn to gift wrap your rose bouquet.  *September & October's Rose:"Cherry Brandy", a rose with beautiful gradation from deep red to yellow.  We will add some Fall flowers to create a warm and vibrant bouquet.

Trial Lesson (Beginner level)  $12 (+HST)
"Simple Moss Ball Series".  This month, we will teach you how to make a simple moss ball arrangement using rich Fall flowers.

October 24 (Wed) 2:00 - 2:45PM 

* This trial lesson is held once a month and is intended for those who have never taken a lesson at Queensberry before. Once you take the trial lesson, you may move on to the next level which is "Mini Bouquet Lesson" or "Mini Arrangement Lesson" but may not take another trial lesson.
